Spiritual Advocacy

Support that meets you where you are

Spiritual abuse is when religion or faith is used as a tool of control, manipulation or oppression. It’s when the things that should bring you peace and connection are twisted into weapons to keep you trapped, silent, or compliant.

Maybe you’ve been told that Islam (or your faith) requires you to accept abuse. Perhaps you’ve heard that having sabr (patience) means suffering in silence. You might have been warned that speaking out will send you to hell, or that leaving is unforgivable. Maybe religious teachings have been twisted to justify control, or you’ve been cut off from your religious community.

Our Spiritual Advocacy service is here to help you reclaim your faith, find clarity, and understand the truth, that your faith does not condone abuse.

Our Spiritual Advocacy service is run by Alimas, women qualified in Islamic theology who understand both faith and the dynamics of abuse. This service is a place of solace for survivors from the Muslim community, where we work to rewrite harmful narratives in your life.
