Nour exists because of people who care. Whether you want to shape our work through lived experience or volunteer your time and skills, there’s a place for you at Nour.
Nour is committed to being truly user-led. We believe that survivors are the experts in their own experiences, and their voices should guide and shape our services.
Our User-Led Panel brings together survivors who have used Nour’s services to provide feedback, guidance, and insight. Panel members meet regularly to give feedback on existing services, contribute ideas for improvements, help shape our policies and practices, and ensure our work stays grounded in the realities of survivors’ experiences.
Being part of the panel gives survivors an opportunity to use their experiences to create change and improve support for others. Panel meetings are held in a safe, respectful environment, and we reimburse travel expenses and provide support if being on the panel brings up difficult feelings.
We’re always interested to hear from survivors who’ve used Nour’s services and would like to join.

Ideally, you should be in a stable place in your recovery journey. You don't need to have finished all services, but you should feel stable enough to participate in meetings and give feedback without it being overwhelming.
Yes. What's shared in panel meetings is confidential. We have clear agreements about this. There will be exceptions to this such as if you or someone else are at risk, and some other exceptions. We will discuss this with you when you join.
We understand that reflecting on your experiences can be difficult. If you need support, we can connect you with our services. You can also take a break from the panel if you need to.
Usually monthly meetings, each lasting around 2 hours. Occasionally we might ask for feedback via email between meetings.
Not necessarily. It depends on the role. Some roles (like counselling) require professional qualifications. Others (like admin or events) don't require specific experience, just enthusiasm and reliability.
Yes, many of our volunteers and staff have lived experience. However, we do ask that you're in a stable place in your own healing journey. We can discuss this sensitively when you get in touch.
Most regular volunteering roles require a minimum commitment of 6 months, dedicating at least 4 hours per week. Some roles are more flexible, event support, project-based work, or occasional opportunities may have different time commitments. We'll discuss this for specific roles.
Some roles can be done remotely. Other roles need to be in person. We'll let you know what's possible.
Yes, we reimburse reasonable travel expenses for volunteers attending in-person activities.
We consider these on a case-by-case basis depending on what's needed and what we can offer. Get in touch to discuss.
